Kyle Ackley may be accused of mowing down the competition on his way to the grand champion dairy beef feeder title Wednesday. His Holstein entry, Laurinaitis, is named after the St. Louis Rams rookie linebacker, James Laurinaitis, a graduate of The Ohio State University.

SENIOR SHOWMAN Tucker Berg, 16, was the senior showmanship winner in the Junior Fair dairy beef feeder show Wednesday.

JUNIOR SHOWMAN Kristopher Ackley, 10, of East Liberty, was the junior showmanship winner in Wednesday’s Junior Fair dairy beef feeder show.

He has earned the title twice before.

Another characteristic the winning entry had cannot necessarily be attributed to his namesake.

“He liked to lick a lot of stuff,” Kyle said.

He also earned the intermediate showmanship title. Brooklyn Terrill, 14, of Ridgeway, showed her entry to the reserve champion title.

She is a freshman at Benjamin Logan High School.

“I don’t really have a name for him,” she said of her project.

“He doesn’t like to cooperate, but when it came down to it, he usually does,” said Brooklyn, who also showed market hogs at the fair this year.

This is just her second year showing animals.

“I learn something new every year,” she said.
