David N. Botner, 30, of Bellefontaine, was charged Thursday with felony theft as officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department investigate the unauthorized sale of items from Martin Landscaping’s 2037 S. Main St. warehouse.

He was arrested while working for the company at a home in the 1400 block of Whispering Pines Drive.

According to detectives, the suspect, who is on parole for robbery, conducted a garage sale at the warehouse on Mother’s Day.

He was dressed in his company shirt and sold various items, including an all-terrain vehicle, a go-kart and gas-powered trimmer, to unsuspecting victims.

He later delivered the items using a company truck.

According to the Ohio Department of Corrections’ Website, the defendant was released in Dec. 14 after serving 11⁄2 years for a third-degree robbery conviction out of Miami County.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail after Thursday’s arrest.
