Wilbur “Jr.” Wray, 86, of Urbana, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Vancrest of Urbana.
He was born in St. Paris on April 2, 1928, a son of Wilbur C. and Clara Cost Wray. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy, in 1991; daughter, Janie Sue James; and stepgranddaughter, Torre Horsley.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Watson Wray; son, Gary L. Wray of Urbana; stepdaughters, Sheryl (Karl) Zerkle of St. Paris, Jean (Steve) Strickland of Urbana, Teresa (Keith) Wall of Bellefontaine, Marcia (Bobby) Cole of Springfield, Kathy Crego Reviea-Couch of Troy and Rose Crego of Miamisburg; stepsons, Dennis (Marcella) Crego of Urbana, David (Candi) Crego, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Dan (Tina) Crego of Troy; two grandchildren; 43 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; and six great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Jr., a 1946 Urbana Local School graduate, retired from the city of Urbana in 1993. He was a member of the Urbana Freewill Baptist Church, and he loved bowling and fishing.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Walter & Smith Funeral Home, Urbana, where Pastors Grant Kenneth Cordell and Del Wallace officiates a service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual, with active pallbearers including Bill Mullins, Brent Zerkle, Barry Zerkle, Bobby Cole, Aaron Reviea, Jerod Reviea and Jerome Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Zerkle, Dennis Crego, Ray Chapman and Eugene Instine.
