Finding the right college can be difficult, but for Benjamin Logan’s Taylor Quay her first visit turned into the perfect fit.
Quay, a multi-sport standout for the Raiders, found a home at Heidelberg University where she’ll play volleyball for the NCAA Division III program.
“Heidelberg was my first college visit, and as soon as I stepped on campus, I knew it was a perfect fit,” said Quay. “I’m not a big university type of person. I like small classes and they have a smaller campus that I really liked.
“I met their coach and he was very laid back. He always wanted what was best for the team and stressed academics first. I also went on an overnight stay with the volleyball team and got to meet them. It was a perfect fit. They are really fun like my high school team I have now.”
Quay competed in softball and basketball in addition to volleyball at Ben Logan.
On the volleyball court, she was a first-team Central Buckeye Conference selection her senior year. She played a large role on the 2012 team that went 22-3 and won a CBC Mad River division title.
“When I played volleyball in middle school, I knew it was what I wanted to do (in college),” said Quay. “It was so much fun and it takes a lot of work. Most people think it’s easy, but there is a lot more strategy than people think. I love softball and basketball, but volleyball was where my heart was the most.”
