Cougars scratch out 1-0 win over Raiders

It is not often that a pitcher throws a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and comes out on the losing end. But that was the tough luck suffered by Benjamin Logan standout lefty Zane Collins on Friday.

Collins threw another gem to tack onto his list of impressive outings this season. The problem for Collins and the Raiders was that Kenton Ridge right-hander Mitchell Schneider and his defense were on top of their game as well.

Schneider tossed a no-hitter as the visiting Cougars pulled out a 1-0 victory in Division II sectional baseball semifinal game.

“Zane pitched his heart out, but we let our guard down for a minute and we let it slip away,” said Ben Logan head coach Jim Fawcett.
