Belle Center Council members invited village residents to voice their concerns about trash collection at the June 10 meeting.
Council is currently considering whether to raise rates to continue to provide the service, hire a private contractor to take over trash collection or find some other alternative.
In an informal survey that went out with utility bills last month, residents were fairly divided among the options, Mayor Rhonda Fulmer said during the Thursday evening rescheduled monthly meeting.
Some residents voted in favor of having a public hearing on the matter, but council members decided the discussion could be part of a regular meeting.
“I’m going to say what (Council President Dustin Plikerd) has said many times before, that this is what people elected us to do,” Councilman Bill McCormick said. “But if anyone is interested they can come to the next meeting and we will discuss it.”
