MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — Fire officials are investigating as suspicious an early morning home fire in southwest Ohio.
One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation after responding to the blaze in Middletown at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News (http://bit.ly/1qyYqF7 ) reports that authorities say there had been an earlier disturbance at the home Monday. The home was engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. The fire is believed to have started in a back bedroom.
Firefighters initially believed that a mother and two children were inside, but then learned they had left the house Monday. The home was heavily damaged.
The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause.
