Clair Alan Johnson, 79, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.
He was born in Union County on Feb. 6, 1935, a son of the late Claude Gilbert and Mary Josephine Hall Johnson. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Crystal Johnson; and a brother, Lynn Johnson.
He is survived by brothers, Darrell Johnson and Larry (Betty) Johnson; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; uncle, Phil Johnson; as well as several nieces and one nephew.
Clair served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired from the Urbana Post Office, where he worked as a letter carrier. Clair was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Northside Church of God and the Mingo Breakfast Club.
He enjoyed his time at Logan Acres, where he earned the title of “bingo champion.” He was a kind and gentle man who got along with everyone who knew him. Clair will be greatly missed.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, where Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial follows at Grandview Cemetery, Urbana, where military honors are provided by the American Legion Pearce-Kerns Post 120.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Logan Acres Care Center, 2739 County Road 91, Bellefontaine OH 43311.
