Acting troupe kicks off next leg of annual production

Some people say homemade soup or chili tastes just a little better the second time around.

The same could be said for Mad River Theater Works’ annual production that has food at its core.

The Zanesfield-based acting company is kicking off the 40-show second leg of The Pasture: A Tale of Just Food with performances this weekend in Bluffton and Cincinnati.

And they will bring to life the tale of Annapurna, played by Philadelphia native Najwa Parkins, and her family who live in “The Barren Lands” on the stage of the Holland Theatre at 7 p.m. Thursday followed by another public local performance at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Jubilee Mennonite Church.
