Escorted by a solemn caravan of emergency response vehicles and motorcycles, a flag-draped 12-foot steel beam, a remnant of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, will make its way through Champaign County on Saturday, April 9, to become the centerpiece of a 9/11 memorial in Urbana.
Before reaching its final destination, the beam procession will make stops in Mechanicsburg, North Lewisburg, West Liberty, St. Paris and Urbana. The West Liberty leg is slated for 11 to 11:30 a.m.
