Russell and Janet Nicely of Indian Lake and Englewood, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 17 with a trip to Lake Erie.

Family and friends celebrated with the couple during a surprise open house at their home June 27. A Caribbean cruise is planned for this winter.

They met at Stivers High School in Dayton and married June 17, 1960.

He is retired from the Dayton Public School system and she retired from the Dayton Public schools and Indian Lake Local schools.

They are the parents of Stephen (Catherine) Nicely of Indian Lake.
