Downtown Bellefontaine will be a monthly hot spot for community gatherings with the launch of First Friday events, the first of which is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. today.
An initiative of the Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership, First Friday events are scheduled for the first Friday of every month this year.
The event today is a “BARbell Crawl,” which offers participants a sample of five different gym and health and wellness studios in downtown Bellefontaine.
Twenty-minute classes will be demonstrated, offering attendees a chance to sample all of the different fitness options available downtown. The event culminates with a pint of beer at Roundhouse Depot Brewing Company, where door prizes will also be given away.
First Friday events have become popular initiatives in other communities such as Delaware, Westerville and Canton, organizers report, and the monthly, themed events provide, “an amazing way to connect people within our community.
First Fridays give people a chance to, “have fun and start each month off on a positive note,” related Addy Passaro, Mandy Osterfeld and Haley LaBatt, who are spearheading the initiative on behalf of the Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership.
A downtown Bellefontaine chocolate walk is next month’s event, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7, in which participants can collect over a half-pound of chocolate from Marie’s Candies.
Many of the annual downtown Bellefontaine events such as the art and wine walk are being moved to the first Friday of the month. Other First Friday events will include a B-Town Brew Fest, an Easter Shop Hop and automotive month kick-off.
Tickets are required for First Friday events, and can be purchased at the Logan County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau.
