In the wake of the March 14 tornado, officers from the Washington Township Police Department found themselves facing a critical shortage of cruisers, just when the need for patrols was at its peak. With officers ready and willing to serve, the department encountered the challenge of insufficient vehicles to deploy them effectively.
Faced with this challenge and awaiting the delivery of a new cruiser with uncertain timing, the department reached out for assistance. The response from Director Andy Wilson of the Ohio Department of Public Safety has proven to be a game-changer for the Washington Township Police Department.
Understanding the urgency of the situation and the need to maintain patrols for public safety, Wilson authorized the donation of two cruisers for use by Washington Township police. That donation ensures that officers have the necessary resources to fulfill their duties and continue serving the community effectively.
The donated cruisers will soon be operational upon the addition of essential equipment. However, their significance extends beyond mere vehicles. This gesture exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and collaboration between law enforcement agencies, Washington Township Police related in a social media post.
“These cruisers will be on the road patrolling your neighborhood. We can’t thank Director Wilson enough,” Washington Township police said in a statement.
The resourcefulness of both the Washington Township Police Department and the Ohio Department of Public Safety will help to sustain adequate law enforcement presence in and around Washington Township.
