Benjamin Logan High School announces that several juniors have been chosen to participate in the American Legion Buckeye Boys State program at Miami University from June 9-16.
This eight-day immersive program offers young men a hands-on experience in the operation of democratic government, political party organization, and their interplay in shaping Ohio’s governance.
Selected from Benjamin Logan High School by local American Legion Posts, the following juniors will participate in this year’s program:
• From Belle Center Post 266: Carter Lyden, son of T.J. and Kae Lynn Lyden; Camden Spriggs, son of Scott and Alison Spriggs; Noah Stanford, son of Ryan and Deidre Stanford; Landon Stoodt, son of Kevin and Amy Stoodt.
• From East Liberty Post 745: Grahsyn Bailey, son of Jarvey and Deanne Bailey; and Carter Yoder, son of Colin and Carrie Yoder.
• From Zanesfield Post 599: Damon Johnson, son of Robert and Marion Johnson; Bryden Morris, son of Quinn and Nichole Morris; and Liam Sweeney, son of Mitch and Morissa Sweeney.
Established in 1936, Buckeye Boys State stands as the largest Boys State program nationwide, attracting over 1,200 participants annually.
Sponsored by the Ohio American Legion, the state’s largest veterans organization, Buckeye Boys State provides participants with an impartial education on city, county, and state government functions. Through non-partisan instruction, attendees gain invaluable insights into governance while forging lasting friendships.
“This summer event is not just a program; it’s an opportunity to prepare for the future,” remarked former delegate, Matt Chamberlain. “Participants will immerse themselves in a college environment, honing leadership and management skills applicable to any career path. Moreover, they’ll form bonds that extend beyond the program, all while deepening their understanding of Ohio’s governmental operations.”
The American Legion Buckeye Boys State program continues to empower Ohio’s youth with the knowledge and skills vital for effective citizenship and leadership.
