Benjamin Logan High School announce that five of its talented students have been selected to exhibit their artwork in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
Charley Hardman, Lauren Hemmelgarn, Trenity Helton, Nadiya Powell and Sidney Sallee will represent the school in showcasing their artistic abilities.
The Congressional Art Competition, which began in 1982, provides a platform for members of Congress to recognize the artistic talents of young constituents.
This year, Benjamin Logan High School is proud to have five students participating in this esteemed event, highlighting the artistic talent within Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.
One artwork will be chosen as the Fourth Congressional District winner, earning the honor of being displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside winning pieces from districts across the United States. This offers a unique opportunity for the chosen artist, as their work will be seen by thousands of visitors daily in the Cannon Tunnel for the duration of the exhibition.
The Cannon Tunnel connects the Cannon House Office Building to the Capitol. The tunnel will be lined with artwork from the annual Congressional Art Competitions. The judging and reception will take place on Thursday, April 25 at the Warren G. Harding Presidential Center in Marion, Ohio.
The Congressional Art Competition is sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives and supported by Congressman Jim Jordan.
In addition to the display at the U.S. Capitol, the district winner will receive two airfare tickets to visit the exhibition and will be eligible for a scholarship, as well as a tour of our nation’s Capitol.
